    In 2012 Daan founded, together with Jonas Wintermans, Additive Industries, a high tech company industrialising 3D printing for functional parts in various metals. The ambition of Additive Industries is to bring additive manufacturing and 3D printing from lab to fab and allow the high tech manufacturing industry to capitalise on the opportunities additive manufacturing has to offer in creating lighter, compact, integrated, more complex products & parts with better thermal performance/ characteristics. Daan has been at the helm of several companies, some of them from the start. His heart beats for the high tech manufacturing industry and open innovation in the supply chain. In the evening hours, Daan is a board member and initiator of NextOEM, an accelerator program for young high tech companies.

    is professor of industrial engineering in the Dept. of Design Production Management at the University of Twente. He is also scientific director for the Fraunhofer Project Centre (FPC) located at the university. He has a long and distinguished career in additive manufacturing and is probably best known as co-author of the Springer book Additive Manufacturing Technologies and as co-editor of the Rapid Prototyping Journal. The FPC is a new Fraunhofer centre and the first located in The Netherlands. It works very cosely with the Inst. for Production Technologies located in Aachen, hence the reason for this collaborative presentation.

    has  13+ years experience in additive manufacturing of medical devices. He launched one of the 1st implantable AM medical device manufacturing facilities in US in 2006.  Since helping medical device manufacturers gain FDA 510K clearance of implantable devices in 2009, Ryan has been involved in the development of over 15  cleared AM medical devices (Hip, Extremity, Knee, Spine, PMI, CMF, Guiding).  Recently Ryan has spent his time consulting and enabling a wide variety of customers  in several industries implement and improve Metal Additive Manufacturing processes.

    is a Senior Product Manager for Autodesk focusing on the Additive Manufacturing portfolio of products including Fusion 360, Autodesk Netfabb and Autodesk Netfabb Simulation. Prior to his current role he managed several Autodesk Simulation products including Inventor Simulation, and Simulation Mechanical. He is also teaching a CAD/CAE course at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, PA since 2014 as adjunct professors. He received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and has an Active Professional Engineering license from the state of Pennsylvania since 2007.

    is Professor of Innovative Manufacturing and Director of the Centre for Additive Manufacturing (CfAM) at the University of Nottingham. Having worked in the AM field for over 25 years, he is internationally recognized both for scientific endeavour and creating impact though industrial exploitation where he has a background of leading and managing large multi-disciplinary, multi- partner research projects from both EPSRC and industry. Richard’s research interests are focused on AM specific processes, materials and computational methods across for wide spectrum of industrial sectors with current research programmes focused on next generation multifunctional additive manufacturing and the generation of functional materials through AM. Richard has received multiple international awards and honours and is a co-founder and Director of Added Scientific Ltd, a spin out from the University of Nottingham focused on implementing Additive Manufacturing technical solutions to industry.

    Ole-Bjørn Ellingsen (Engineer, DNV GL): is a material’s engineer working in the material’s laboratory at DNV GL’s headquarters in Norway. Ole-Bjørn’s ambition is to enable AM for the O&G and related industries, through development of standards and recommended practices, qualification of technologies, testing and failure analyses.

    Onno Ponfoort (Practice Leader 3D Printing, Berenschot): is senior managing consultant. He is a strategy and innovation expert with over 30 years of international hands-on experience. Since 2001 Onno works with Berenschot. Within Berenschot he is Practice Leader 3D Printing and the central contact for  Smart Industry. Also, he serves as thoughtleader for strategic marketing. International business development is one of the recurring topics throughout his career. Onno develops workshops for knowledge development and management, to help making practical use of digital technologies, but also to  train account management or learn how to make investment decisions. Onno is an avid publicist. He is co-author pof ‘Marketing Management, de essentie’, the Dutch translation of Philip Kotler’s masterpiece on marketing management. He published “Successful Business Models for 3D Printing’, the worldwide first publication on business models for the use of 3D printing (additive manufacturing). Next to this you can find many articles, lately with a strong focus on the organisational and economic impact of digital technology and transformation.

    Harry Kleijnen (Key Account Manager at Additive Industries): is currently fulfilling the role of Key Account Manager at Additive Industries. He manages joined projects and collaborations with Additive Industries’ key customers bringing new materials, new applications and new functionality to the MetalFAB1 system and Additive World Platform. In his former position at Philips Healthcare he was since 2006 responsible for developing  the Tungsten 3D printing process together with setting-up a large volume manufacturing facility for series production of additive manufactured Tungsten products in a Medical Regulated environment.

In his past positions, Matthias successfully led multiple projects in Additive Manufacturing with focus on business case and strategic development for AM users as well as system and material supplier. With a history in management consulting he has a wide experience in business development, strategy development and communication.

    is a Research Engineer at ArcelorMittal R&D. He is currently leading the Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology team, which focusses on process performance and new developments. Having obtained a master’s degree in Material Engineering from Complutense University of Madrid, he started his career in welding simulations. Later, Miguel was chosen by ArcelorMittal New Frontier Centre in Asturias to introduce AM within the organization. Miguel has worked since then in a variety of R&D projects involving metal AM technologies for the last five years. His current goal is to develop a team to work globally in this field which will focus on process performance. His ambition is to increase awareness, consolidate knowledge and promote the use of AM within the organisation.

    holds a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Warwick. He is the UK lead for ANSYS UK in additive manufacturing, specifically focusing on powder bed fusion techniques. Vishal is a senior applications engineer at ANSYS with 7+ years of experience. He also has experience in structural mechanics, fluid dynamics and highly coupled physics.

    has been an additive manufacturing software developer for Ansys for the past three years where he works to create tools that tools that expedite the additive manufacturing design and development process. He has also worked closely with collaborators to validate the AM software tools and demonstrate how they can be used to get the most out of the Additive manufacturing process. Prior to joining Ansys Zack received his PhD in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University where his research focused on process development.
